Double gold medal for Alan Day

Alan Day of Ripley, Derbyshire, riding for DVATC got two gold medals in one week, starting last Sunday at the Midland Cyclo Cross Championships at Thornbridge Hall, Bakewell, which he won and became the Midland Regional Cyclo Cross over 60 champion. Then on Saturday at Moorways Stadium, Derby, Alan won the British Championship Gold medal to become, British over 60 Cyclo Cross Champion.

Congratulations to Alan, we hope your mantelpiece is large enough for all your new silver wear.

A gold medal for cyclo-cross champ Alan Day

Well done Alan Day, who has won the Gold Medal winner for the 60 year plus category at the Midland Regional Championship that was held at Thornbridge Bakewell Derbyshire today.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Costly falls win the trophy

The coveted injury prize for 2010 has been awarded to Mark Tillet ‘Pole’ for his very costly accident this year during a jolly outing at Blackrocks. The shear expense of replacement teeth and the amount of emergency aid that came to his rescue will be something he’ll be telling the lads in the pub for years to come.

Will take some beating next year!

Club Championship events 2011

The new list of club championship events is here! During the AGM we decided we’d go for a 50/50 split of silly and serious events. If your name is next to the event then your the organiser. Still a couple of blanks if you would like to volunteer.

Its ‘snow’ hard

This weeks Tuesdays ride wasn’t made easy with the snow. We had an ok turn out considering, think we managed about 12 people. Its was extremely hard work because all the snow had frozen up, we had to push down some of the downhills, not because we are crap, just because the snow wouldn’t let you roll. Still was amazing fun as usual. We should also mention Iain’s very Christmas’y looking bike, complete with LED flashing lights just to sidetrack you whilst your finding your way down the trail. I just hope the speakers come out on the next ride playing Christmas music!

Club Championships winner 2010

Even though we didn’t bother with the last club champs event this year, once again Iain has snatched the trophy! Well done Ian for the second year running.

Bikeradar 2009 – Whyte Enduro Success

DVATC made a good turn out at the first Whyte Enduro that took place at the Bikeradar festival at Donnington park on the 30th/31st May 2009.  We had a total of 15 riders enter the event in the form of 5 pairs of riders enter the 12 hour event and 5 riders enter the 4 hour solo event.

Building on last years success in the Sleepless in the Saddle 24 hour event the DVATC were successful again in this event with a win in the 12 hour male pairs competitive category for Mark and Phil and also a win for Russ in the male 4 hour solo fun category.  Russ also managed to win a brand new Whyte E120 bike in the event raffle!

In the male 4 hour solo category Tom put in a good effort against some stiff competition to finish 5th. Oli and John did well in their first 12 hour enduro and finished 4th in the male 12 hour category closely followed by Ian and Martin, Gareth and Steff, Richard and Dave who finished in 6th, 7th and 8th respectively.

Sleepless in the Saddle Success

The DVATC hit the podium for the first time in this years muddy Sleepless in the Saddle.  Mark, Tony, Chris and Phil finished in second place in the male sport catergory.
